Q: Look strange after Botox?

I've been approved to receive Botox injections for migraine/tension headaches. Has anyone who's had this done experienced facial changes -- in other words, do you look weird afterward?

I know I should be more concerned about eliminating pain, but with all the meds I'm on and subsequent weight gain I've experienced, I'm already self-conscious and don't want to make things worse!

Tricia,

It's really important is to make sure the doctor who is giving you your injects be trained to do so for Migraine prevention, not cosmetic purposes - there is a difference.

I've not had botox, but maybe some others will be along to help you with their story.

Good luck

Tricia,

I have had Botox injections for the past 3 1/2 years!  I have never had any adverse changes.  It does feel awkward to think that you are raising your eyebrows when nothing is really happening on your face!  I have bangs over my forehead, so noone notices this happening.  I have my injections every 2 1/2 months & I go in for checkups once a month.  My doctor keeps very close tabs on how things look & are progressing.

I agree that you need to make sure that your doctor is trained for injecting the Botox for medical reasons.

I hope this helps.

Andi

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better.

My doctor is pretty well-regarded; found him through MAGNUM. So no worries there. But he did warn me about possible brow droopage, which is why I'm concerned. Guess being pain-free beats superficial side effects, though, especially since between holiday triggers and the crazy weather changes I've been going through meds like crazy.

Tricia, I had botox injections for chronic migraines for years and did experience brow droop as a side effect. I noticed it but others didn't. I didn't like how it made me look but I had such good headache relief that it was worth it. Debbie Reply
