Q: Is seeing only light for about 5 to 10 minutes right before a migraine ever occured

I'm 55 years of age and have never had a migraine until recently, I think.  I was working and all of the sudden could not read at all.  I only saw light for about 5 to 10 minutes.  After I regained my sight I got a headache on the back of my head and my scalp was very sensative and shortness of breath.

Hi Rosalinda,

Sudden onset of a Migraine attack (or any condition,)  needs to be discussed with your doctor right away. Migraine is a genetic neurological disease caused by overactive neurons in our brains and genetics and we usually, but not always, begin having Migraines at a much earlier age. Please contact your doctor right away and tell him/her exactly what you've said here.

Let us know how you are ok?

Rosalinda,

Nancy gave you good information and advice. I want to stress the importance of seeing your doctor as soon as possible.

When people experience their first Migraine over the age of 50, it is especially important to see a doctor and be diagnosed.

Given the symptoms you describe, I really hope you'll see your doctor soon. Those symptoms could be Migraine, but they're also symptoms of other issues, including stroke. I don't mean to frighten you; just want to emphaisze the need to see your dotor.

Please do keep us posted?

Welcome again,

Teri
