Hello,

I have been doing some research and found that people who have used Headache Buster for Migraines has helped their migraines. Does it really work?

Hi godschild,

Headache Buster is a "homeopathic" nasal spary containing capsicum, organic feverfew extract and peppermint oil. Feverfew is especially important to discuss because it may cause miscarriage during pregnancy. As with any natural/homeopathic or supplements we take, it is important to talk to our doctor before we start taking them. They act as drugs in our bodies and interact with other medications we take.

Good luck

Nancy

I had to look up what headahce buster is. I feel like I have tried something similar that my chiropractor gave me. I could only use it in one nostril because I wasn't brave enough to do the other one. It's very powerful (so spicy/hot) but if you can stand the burn, it will clear your sinuses out.

If you can't tolerate the burn like me, you could try using a nette pot to clear your sinuses and relieve some pressure in your head.

I also use HeadOn. It doesn't get rid of my headaches but it eases the pain.

I've been suffering horribly recently, due to severe changes in barometric pressure.  The fiorocet isn't cutting it, and the maxalt is over $29 per pill.  I ordered the spray after one of my professors recommended sniffing cayenne pepper, but ouch!!  When I saw the spray online, I had to try it because the science behind it was so strong.  I've been using it for a few days, and it really does work.  The only negatives are that the effects are short-lived (an hour at most), and it burns like hell when you sniff it (but the pain only lasts a few seconds).  I'd try it.  It can't be worse than having a migraine.

I read up on headache buster for my dad who suffers from migraines.  There are several clinical studies to show that capsaicin (active ingredient in Headache Buster) is effective in relieving migraines when used early on.  Even though it doesnt last as long as he would like - he is able to use it whenever the pain returns and after a few sprays he says that his nose has become desensitizes to the capsaicin and it doesnt burn as much.  good luck.

I tried this medication last summer ('09) and found it to be very effective. I had just suffered a 3-day migraine, which I had never had before and didn't want to experience again (I would occasionally get migraines that last about a day). I use it whenever I feel one coming on and keep taking it about hourly until I can tell it's going away. If the headache feels like it's getting worse, I will use it more often and more of it (a couple sprays vs. one). I have not had a headache turn into a migraine since using this stuff and am so glad I found it. It does burn quite a bit and gives you quite a jolt, but compared to the threat of a migraine, it's so worth it and very temporary (it burns in my nose & throat for less than a minute). It's also nice to know that it's all natural so there's no harmful side effects and no limitations in using it as often as you feel you need it. From now on I make sure I have it available wherever I am.

I sleep with a CPAP and on occasion a nostril will become irritated overnight leaving me to have severe sinus itching and runny nose the next couple of days.  So much so that it is hard to function, and forget about concentrating or leaving the house without a box of Kleenex.

I tried Sinus Buster for the first time last night, and it seems to be working.

WARNING: This stuff is STRONG, but worth it!!!! The burning was instant and intense.  It seems to work similarly to an old cartoon I once saw.  When one characters arm hurt another character kicked him in the shin and asked, "There, how's your arm feel now?"

The pain only lasts a few seconds.  In less than a minute it subsided and the itching that had plagued me all day had stopped.  My nose still was draining, and it took another shot of spray about an hour later, but today I am clear, dry, and have no itching at all!

My concern is whether this is a safe product.  I have been looking for anything on line to indicate the dangers of using what is basically ‘pepper spray' as a source of sinus relief, but have yet to find anything that claims any other negative side effects other than the feeling of glass shards going up my nose.

I only wish I had found relief sooner!

cgnpia,

-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-•*Welcome to MyMigraineConnection!*•-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-

Some people say this product helps them. The one time I tried it, it triggered a Migraine. Interestingly enough, capsacin (the pepper in this produce) is sometimes used to trigger Migraine for studies.

Have you mentioned the irritated nostril to your doctor? My husband also uses a CPAP machine. He was advised to use a bit of antibiotic ointment to relive irritated or dry nostrils. This is especially bothersome for him in the winter when humidity is lower.

Welcome again.

Teri

Sounds like something to consider. I've used capsacin products topically for my fibro and it has worked wonderfully until I rub my eyes.  Since Nancy mentioned it's "homeopathic" I will be asking my physicians about it before I venture to it.  My neuro will probably say "I don't know anything about it", my primary (homeopath) will probably say "go for it" & my headache specialist, ???

I bought this for my partner who is weekly knocked out by killer migraines.  He finds that if he takes it quickly enough after the onset of symptoms, it will stop the headache from developing.  If he gets one while sleeping and it develops too far, then the spray will knock it back about 30 or 40 percent.  So for him, taking it immediately is the key.  I know it´s rescued a lot of working time for us.  He has suffered since he was 7 years old, so it´s been a huge relief for him to have in his arsenal.

Yes!  It works great! Expect a shockingly blast of pepper up your nose, keep it out of your eyes, but breathe it up deeply and in a few minutes your sinuses will drain and so will the headache.  It is totally amazing stuff - none addictive, no side effects (after the burning sensation stops - it takes a couple of minutes, but I use that time to visualize the spray disrupting & cleaning out all the clogged areas).  When I can feel the effects of the spray move up into the sinus area behind my eyes, I know I'm going to be feeling better very quickly.
