stabbing pain in the head

my daughter is 14 years old and has complained a of stabbing pain in the back of her head, she said it is like a knife going into her skull, if came on vbery suddenly and has lasted half an hour, i am an extremely worried parent

It sounds a bit like ice pick headaches, but they don't last anywhere near that long.

I'd love to be able to give you a firm answer, but the only person who can do that is a doctor who can review your and your family's medical history, discuss your symptoms with you, and conduct a complete examination.

 

Unexplained head pain always needs to be checked out. Statistically, it's unlikely to be anything dangerous, but we never want to be on the wrong end of those statistics.

 

Please call your daughters doctor and let us know what he or she says?
