Q: changing headache specialists???

I currently see a headache specialist / neurologist for my migraines / headaches.  My diagnoses are chronic daily headache, chronic migraine, and migraine w/o aura.  I want to change and go to a different headache specialist / neurologist.  What is the best way to handle this transition??  I don't really want to burn any bridges, and I certainly don't want to make my current dr. mad.  I'm frustrated and want to make a change.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Missy,

In my opinion, the best way to approach this would be tell your current doctor that you'd like a second opinion since you're not making progress. Be honest, and tell him or her what you said here -- that you don't want to burn bridges and so on.

You can tell your doctor that you're sure he's frustrated too and want to see if someone looking at your case fresh would make a difference.

Good luck!
