Q: Birth control pill and Migraine disease?

Hi, I have been managing my migraines really well over the last year since i stopped using the pill. However, i also suffer from endometeriosis and the pill has been recommended for managment of this. I am wandering if anyone has had any sucess with both endo and migraine disease when taking the pill and if so which one? Thanks

Hello, Lou,

I'm so sorry you're in this situation of being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Like Nancy, I hope some other members will come along and share their experences. I took birth control pills for quite some time, but they never had any effect on my Migraines at all.

Unfortunately, even if others have experiences to share with you, that may not be as helpful as you hope because everyone's bodies respond so differently. I don't know what kind of doctor treats you for Migraines, but would recommend that if different doctors treat your for Migraines and the endometriosis, you ask them to consult. You might also suggest to your Migraine doctor that he or she check out books or papers written by Dr. Dawn Marcus and Dr. Susan Hutchinson, who have both done a considerable amount of work on the impact of hormones on Migraine.

I wish you the best of luck in your treament. Having had endometriosis, I know how miserable it is. Please keep us posted on how you're doing?

Teri

I haven't had much experience with the birth control pill. Hopefully others will be into lend you their stories. You may also want to post this question in our discussion forum.
