Hi ash,

You can absolutely use a cold compress to help relieve your head pain. But here's the  thing -  it is important to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan from a doctor. We are unable to diagnose you online because we are not medical professionals, but can give you information to share with you and the doctor.

Getting an accurate diagnosis simplifies matters and makes it easier for people to get information and treatment, doctors usually go by the gold standard for diagnosis, the International Headache Society's International Classification of Headache Disorders, 2nd Edition (ICHD-II). Under ICHD-II. This article has good information about various types of Migraines; don't let the title put you off: Ocular, Optical, and Opthalmic Migraines and The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

I hope this helps,
