Does white spots on an MRI indicate migraines if spinal tap is normal?  Is this typical, or do you need to ask dr about other causes, medicines, etc?

I have had migraines for years and my MRI reveal multiple white matter lesions due to migraines. These will increase as mine have with repeat scans; as long as you have no other neurological symptoms and tap is normal- If your Dr agrees - migraines are probably the culprit

Hi,

White matter lesions can be from Migraine. For more information on this, please take a look at Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease?

That said, there are other possible causes of such lesions, so it's important that your doctor rule out those other causes, including multiple sclerosis.

Good luck,

Teri
