Q: I was just prescribed Namenda AND Topamax from my doc at UCLA.

I was just prescribed Namenda from my doc at UCLA. He said I should take it while at the same time taking 50mg of Topamax per day. Is that a normal thing? I cant find any info about these two drugs together.I suffer from approximately 10-15 headaches per month (I started charting them). And I have tried about everything out there. Allergic to Imitrex and just plain tired of the meds. But willing to try anything at this point! Is anyone else taking these two drugs together?

Hi, Miracle,

I didn't find any significant interactions between Topamax and Namenda, so as long as all of your doctors know you're taking them, that's what's important.

It's really not unusual for us to find that it's a combination of preventive medications that works best for us as opposed to a single medication. One thing I've found with Namenda is that if it's not taken early in the day, it can disrupt sleep patterns. If your doctor told you to take it later in the day, you might want to check with him about that.

Hope the combo works well for you!
Teri
