I completely agree.    I suffer from Chronic Acute Daily Migraine.  The pain never ends. I suffer from exacerbations which is when a railroad spike is being hammered into my skull.  I have now gotten to the point that I have to file for disability.  I have tried to work but can't be dependable and the chronic pain is affecting focus, concentration, memory and cognitive thinking.  I can't keep my train of thought. When people are speaking to me I have a delayed reaction and don't respond for a couple minutes but it's like I only just heard it. I get laughed at for it but it's not funny. I used to have perfectly good typing skills and was in spelling bees as a kid now I forget where keys on the keyboard are, I misspell words and sometimes I just stop typing and space out.    But my neurologist has gone thru hell and back trying to help me. Unfortunately we have found no cause and almost every med that we've tried has caused severe hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) so I can't take them.  I even had this reaction to a cortizone shot to the back of my head.  I have been relegated to Ibuprophen, aspirin (I have bad reactions to other NSAIDS), and some Triptans like Frova and Imitriex.    I feel that this doctor simply gave up on you. By taking you off of everything you were on he took away any, however small, benefit you were getting from those meds.  I would get away from that doctor and find a neurologist.  If this doctor is a neurologist, find a different one.  Get a copy of you medical records so the new doctor has the information possible to help you.   Good Luck.
