I had them about 4 months ago and never went back for more. My doctor recommended that I get them every 2 weeks for 3 sessions. The first ones didn't prevent my migraines...but at one point I physically felt them wearing off in my neck and it triggered one of the worst migraines I've ever had.

I also thought that it would be only one shot. Your doctor will probably just feel along your neck and head for sensitive spots and give you a shot at every one of them (I think I had 8 shots total)

I got so excited about the blocks that I made it out to be the cure for all my headaches. That did not happen....but I think that you should try it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Other people I have talked to have had a lot of success. It's just like every other migraine treatment - it's not for everyone.

I got them on Monday and I feel like I am going to die.  I have the worst headache, can't turn my neck, nausa and vomitting and my doctor called after calling them 5 times and said she was sorry, I want to go to the hospital, I have never felt so bad in my life, I am clueless about what options I have with these migraines.

I have had it done 4 times.  The first 2 times it worked very nicely.  I did not find it painful, as I feared it would be, just some pressure during the shot.  The 3rd time I needed to have it done again after 4 days and the last time it didn't help.  It certainly is worth a try!  If you get relief from any headache it's worth it.

Good luck

I have had cervical blocks (in the spinal column), facet injections and occipital nerve blocks off and on for over 20 years.  These are not just trigger point injections.  You can only get them every 5-6 months and they are done under a florescope by an anesthesiologist.  They are expensive and only work for me for a short time with an initial "flare up" period right after lasting up to three weeks.  I always think I won't get anymore, but then the pain drives me to desperate measures.  You can't know what will work for you until you try it.  You are an unique individual, as is the doctor giving you the injections, so you can only judge your level of success by your own experience.  Good luck.
