rumessa,   I'm not sure what you mean by alternative medicines since people use the term differently. If you mean nonprescriptions medications such as herbs and other supplements, I know of none that can treat IIH.   Surgical procedures are performed only if medications can't control the build up of fluid and pressure. Generally, the pressure is brought into the normal range by drawing off fluid via a lumbar puncture (spinal tap), then medications such as Diamox are prescribed to keep the fluid level down. When that fails, a shunt is sometimes surgically inserted to allow the fluid to drain down and be absorbed by the body.   Here's some basic info on IIH in case you need it Psuedotumor Cerebri (IIH) - The Basics.   Hope this answers your question.
