Q: can postpartum hormones cause or intensify migraines?

I just gave birth to my 2nd child,a girl this time, back on September 2nd,and from the beginning of this pregnancy,I started getting horrible migraines, and this lasted throughout my entire pregnancy, and I am still suffering from them, constantly! I use to have them back in Junior High and High School, and had not really had much problems with them again until after I turned 20,and then with this 2nd pregnancy, but they still have not stopped, even after having my daughter.

Cause? No.  Migraine is a genetic neurological disorder.  And since you had migraines in Jr/High school, you already have it.

Intensify, trigger, exacerbate?  You bet!  Hormonally triggered migraines are very common for women, particularly menstrual migraines.  I've heard of many women whose migraines change with pregnancy and menopause, so it's pretty common.  Unfortunatley, any change to the delicate equillibrium in a migraineur's body can cause major disruption in our heads.
