Time to change doctors?

I like my neurologist, but I do not like his office staff. They lack compassion, seem uninformed about migraine, and are unprofessional. Once, when I had had continual migraine pain for a few days, I called the office. They were nonchalant about my pain.

My partner took me there, thinking maybe then they would HAVE to pay attention. My doctor was out of the office that day. They still didn't seem to care about me at all, even though I was clearly in distress. Finally, my partner took me to the ER. The ER staff was fantastic, and THEY were able to contact my doctor and consult with him about my treatment. This past Sunday I had 2 auras (and 2 migraines) and Monday I called the office to get an appointment...I took the earliest one, but that's not until May 29th! Don't you think they should have done something to get me in sooner? Is it time to leave and find another doctor? I like my doctor; it's his staff I can't understand.

Carol,

Since you like your doctor, I'd suggest talking with him about his staff. If he's not responsive to your concerns, then it may be time to move on.

If you do decide to go to a new doctor, keep in mind that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine specialists. We do have a listing of patient recommended specialists that you can take a look at.

Good luck,

Teri
