I am using Magnesium Asportate and omega 3 fish oil I dont know if it is the reason or not  My migraines are ALOT better. I am 51 I heard they get better as you get older. When people tell me things about helping migraines I  know its never any good. But I really think this is helping. I play drums for a living. Everyone cant believe how much better i am . You can have stomach problems with Mag. My doc did a mag test . He didnt say I was low.In fact he didnt like the Idea. TOPAMAX was his plan . I said NO THANKS I also stopped  eating eggs as much as I used to.I also am  under more stress than usual. I cant believe I havent had a bad one since Dec. I am also taking a 1/4 tab of Lexapro 2 1/2 mill I refused to take the whole tab. I think its helping. I will be getting off that soon. Good Luck.

I was one to hardly ever get headaches. Then 2 months ago I was hit with them hard. Having 2 siblings with brain tumors of which one of them was cancerous and has brain cancer I went in to the doctor. Cat scan shower I had pockets of air on the brain. So did MRI and everything was fine. However during this process they drew blood and when I went to the neurologist she said my magnesium level was low. She started me on a supplement 2 weeks ago and the headaches are not as bad. Doing more blood work as I had gastric bypass a year ago so checking other minerals for defieciency levels. I take 400 MG two times a day of a magnesium supplement and its helping so far. So the magnesium your friend is taking probably has helped.

This animation shows one of the key causes of pain during a migraine--changes to the blood flow within the brain.
