Q: Is there a specific desk light that will help with overhead lighting headaches

We cannot remove the florescent light above the desk as this would be the logical solution. This person works on a laptop and I don't believe they make screens for laptops. Do you have any other suggestions?

Is it the overhead lighting itself that's the trigger? If so, desk lights and computer screen filters may not make any significant difference because it's the flicker of the fluorescent tube itself that's the Migraine trigger.

If it's glare on the laptop screen that's the problem, you can try putting a hood around the laptop to keep light from hitting the screen. An improvised hood can be made by draping cloth over objects set on both sides of the laptop or by cutting away part of a box and placing it partly over the laptop to block light hitting it from above.

You can find information about these issues in our article Migraines at Work? Check the Lighting.

Good luck,

Teri
