Q: I am a diabetic experiencing severe facial swelling that gradually lessens through the day. Causes?

Doctor has performed kidney fuction tests and has taken me off all oral medication except tekturna (blood pressure) and synthroid.  60 units of Lantus daily for sugar control and 1 Zyrtec daily have been added.  Swelling is still unabated.  I have stopped using salt, eye make-up and even sacchrine in my coffee.  Sugar levels are ranging from 90-250 thruout the day.  I have never had many allergies in the past but that is the next step.  Any suggestion?

Dear Carolyn,

You don't mention Migraine, and this doesn't sound Migraine related. Allergy testing is probably a good idea as is a visti to an ENT to check for anything related to sinus and other such issues.

Good luck,

Teri
