I usually have Aura and severe pain in my entire head most of the dull pain is in my sinus and my temples but it gets sharper on the top of my head all the way to the back of my head.  I do have nausuea I am very sensative to light and sound I also almost hellucinate it feels like, even with sounds and light as well,  I get them frequently then they dissapear foo a couple months and sometimes only weeks,  I believe I have high blood pressure but Im not sure. I have allot of questions and cant afford to go to a doctor at all, are these migraines a disability?  Its hard for employers to understand how bad these migraines are for me sometimes I cant even move... and go numb and lose feeling it seems. The migraines scare me and I need help and answers..  I have cut caffine and chocolate almost completely out of my diet I have tried 2 perscription drugs 1 being MAXALT which has done absolutely nothing for my migraine and SUMATRIPTAN which I think may be helping a little but I still have headaches and aura and most of the time still get nausish.  Usually the migraine will return the next day.  Please help

Hi Shayne2286,

Anyone who has three or more Migraines a month needs to be talking with their doctor about prevention. There's growing evidence that Migraine is a progressive brain disease. A recent study showed that Migraines can cause brain damage, and that people with three or more Migraines a month are more susceptible to this damage. For more information, see Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease? and Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage.

Ok, having said that, it is time to find a doctor who will help you. If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
