No, don't wait. Call your doctor right now for an appointment. Unexplained headaches and headaches that keep on going should always be checked out.
Stop the pain relievers until you see the doctor too. Taking Migraine abortive meds such as the triptans or ergotamines or any kind of pain medication -- prescription or over-the-counter -- more than two or three days a week can make matters worse by causing medication overuse headache (MOH), aka rebound. See Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires for more information on this.
Please see your doctor, then let me know how you're doing?
Welcome again,
Teri
Ashley,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I can't give you medical advice, but I would definitely suggest calling your doctor if this doesn't stop very soon, AND if it continues getting worse.
Aleve can make matters worse by causing medication overuse headache. Did you have a chance to follow the link and read the article I posted for you? I suggest asking your doctor about this. Also, you mentioned sensitivity to light. Did you remember to tell your doctor about that? Any other symptoms -- nausea, sensitivity light or odors? Is there any history of Migraine in your family? Migraines can cause neck pain too.
Bottom line -- if this headache continues, your doctor needs to help, or you need to see another doctor for a second opinion. OK? If it gets worse or frightening over the weekend, don't hesitate to try to reach your doctor or go to the ER.
I'm not trying to frighten you. Just want you to be ok? I'll be online on and off over the weekend, so if you post again, I'll see it.
Teri

Hi Teri,
Thanks for your advice! I went to my doctor and he thinks my headache is most likely due to the muscles in my neck. He prescribed muscle relaxers, instructed me to take aleve twice a day, and felt pretty confident I would be fine by the end of the weekend. Although I have been doing as he instructed taking the aleve and muscle relaxers, my headache has not gone away and I now feel worse than ever.
