Constant, debilitating headache/migraine for about three months?
Hi-
So for the past three months I have been suffering from a pretty extreme, constant headache. It never goes away, and only increases or slightly decreases in intensity, and is mainly around the top my head, temples, and behind my eyes. I have been to see a doctor, but nothing he prescribed me has worked. He tried Fioricet and Inderal, and I am currently on Topamax and Vicodin, neither of which does much of anything. The Vicodin takes some of the edge off, but the headache is always there.
My doctor also sent me for an EEG because there is a history of seizures in my family, but that came back normal. I am scheduled for an MRI in two weeks, but I had one about a year and half ago and it was normal.
I just really don't know what to do anymore- I'm incredibly frustrated, and exhausted all the time, and in a constant state of pain. Forgive me, I'm not normally a complainer, but it has been incredibly frustrating. Also, I'm only 18, and all I do now is go to work and come home and sleep. Is there anything that could be causing this that my doctor might be missing?
I feel like I am in the same boat as you. I have had mine for over 2 months. I have had several different treatments to try and stop the pain and nothing has worked. I am now scheduled at a Headache Clinic. Don't know what else to do.
Anyway, as for you, you might go get your eyes checked. I know that sounds minor but when I not much older than you I started having horrible headaches and finally an Ophthalmologist checked my eyes. He found, by dilating and looking at my optic nerve, that the nerve was profoundly swollen and hemorrhaging. I was sent to the Headache Institute in San Antonio and they did a spinal tap and found that I had increased pressure on my spinal fluid which was causing the swelling on my optic nerve. A normal pressure reading is between is less than 200 or 20 depending on how the monometer is read. My first Lumbar Puncture, the opening pressure was 45.
This can cause excruciating headaches. I ended up getting a shunt to shunt off the excess CSF fluid.
The next your are already doing is the MRI. That should tell if there is anything new.
I sure hope you get some relief and they find your problem.

Hi, for the last seven months i have been suffering from a horrible migraine, and nothing has worked. I have reseached this, and gone over this for a while. Ask your doctor about a DHE iv infusion. It has helped a lot of people.
