Q: FROVA REACTION OR TRIPTAN REACTION

If anyone has had a similar reaction, please let me know, I am trying to see if this is medication related.

I have only taken Frova and Maxalt for migraines and less than a handful of times.

From the first time I have taken Frova I have noticed that for weeks after I get very sore/tender spots on my head...Painful actually.  Not allydonia, I am familiar with that, this is very different, so severe in pain that my eyes water at times and I can only ease the pain with a bag of frozen veggies.

I can only attribute this to the Frova and cannot find anything on this in the patient leaflet of from my neurologist.  After a few weeks it wears off and seems like my nerves reset or something.

It seems to make more sense to not take this medicine for the migraine and ride it out than to deal with this pain for a few weeks.

Any ideas fellow migraine sufferers?

Thanks,

Nicole

PS The one time I took the sample I had of Maxalt I do not remember this reaction.

Hi nicoleigh33,

After all that time Frova has passed through your system, so I don't think it could be that. Is it another kind of Migraine/headache? Have you mentioned this to your doctor or pharmacist? We can't diagnose people because we are not medical professionals, but can give you information.

For purposes of treatment, learning about your Migraines, being able to get care if you're away from home, etc., you need a full diagnosis of what type of Migraine you have. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

I hope this helps,

Nancy
