I have been told by local pharmacies that Cafergot is no longer available - is this true?

My first real experience with chronic head pain...

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Hi Patti,

Cafergot, D.H.E. 45, Ergomar, Migergot and Migranal are products containing ergotamine and still available. However, the FDA has taken about 20 similar drugs off the market due to potential serious side effects with other drugs.

For more information on this topic, you can read this Teri Robert's SharePost: FDA Orders 20 Unapproved Ergotamine Medications Discontinued.

Good luck

Nancy

I have been taking cafergot for the past 12 years and it is still available.  I get my scripts filled at CVS.  They have had to order it for me every once in a while but it only took like a day or two to come in.  I take the pill form, it also comes in a supository (sp?).

Mary, thank you for your post.  I was using Cafergot suppositories for about a year when I could no long get them.  I liked them because they didn't give me that confused feeling like other meds.  I needed to be alert for my job.  CVS is my pharmacy too, I have printed out your reply and will ask them about it!
