I've definitely heard from people who have been helped by IV lidocaine. They didn't have seven days of infusions, but treatment protocols can differ. You can find some information on IV lidocaine in IV Lidocaine - Effective Treatment for Refractory Migraines in the Clinic and on IV infusions of different kinds in IV Treatment of Refractory Migraines.

I can not that you enough Terri for your answer to my question. I have been worried sick if this is a viable way to treat Migraine. I was told by my nurologist he will not help me any more unless I do this treatment. He is very mean. My hair fell out (not all of it, but a substantial amount) Do you know if this will happen with the IV drip? My nurologist just laughs and says that models are bald...
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, You are the best and I am so thankful I found your web site.
Kind Regards Teri,
You're very welcome!
I don't know if you'll have hair loss or not. It's just impossible to predict. I hope not. Having had hair loss from thyroid issues, I know how much that stinks.
You know, from what you've said, I think I'd be changing doctors. I don't know where you live, but take a look at our listing of patient recommended Migraine and headache specialists. One thing that's important to know is that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine specialists. Maybe you really need a Migraine specialist.
Please keep me posted on how you're doing? You can reply here or click on my name to send me a personal message through my profile. I have to go out of town on a business trip Wednesday, but I'll try to check for messages.
Thank you Teri for getting back to me so fast,I know you are a busy woman.
I live in Kelowna BC. I did call some of the specialists on your list and it is way to expensive for a canadian to get expert health care in the US. Example the Mayo clinic in Scotsdale AZ was between 50,000.00 and upwards.
My Nurologist has a certificate saying he is a Migraine Specialist in his office, but he is very defensive and he says you come with cronic migraine but you won't go to hospital for help. You are up to something, I don't know what yet. So Untill you decide there is nothing more I can do for you? I was in tears. That is why I am un sure of his treatment. I am willing to try anything, and have done evrything he has told me to do for the last year, nothing has worked yet. I have seen 4 Nurologists, traveled to Vancouver andsaw Dr. Gordon Robinson, yet no relief. I get migraine daily now and only allowed to use DHE which is starting to have no effect, been on that almost one year. Take an injection or two daily.
So there is no one else to see. My family Dr just agress with what ever my Nurologist says and is of no help. Every one tells me we have tried everything, but from your web site I clearly see we have not. I wish there was a way to go to the states and get help. I was made to retire from my job Oct 07th 2010. with no benifits just retire or be fired due to migraines. Even though I missed little work when I was taking 4 Zomig a day. Thank you for letting me vent and for all your resources. You have made a difference in many peoples lives. We thank you so much for that.
