Q: Severe headaches 7+ years after orbital reconstruction.. doctor classifies as migraines

I am a 30 year old male who had orbital reconstruction surgery at the age of 22.  I also had two rhino/septos and my septum is still deviated.  My doctor (not the ones who did the surgeries) classifies my recurring, debilitating headaches as migraines and feeds me pills.  Is this the correct course of action, or should I consult a specialist?

Hi bryant4802,

Since you are having debilitating headaches and your doctor is unable to help you, yes, I would suggest seeing a Migraine/headache specialist. These doctors devote their entire practice to seeing patients with Migraines and headaches. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Good luck and let us know how you make out, ok?

Nancy
