MOH

Denise
11/26/08

How long does it take to get over MOH?  I have used percocet for over a year and I need to get off of it.  Right now I wake with a "10".  My shoulders feel like steel and the pain goes up the left side of the back of my neck.  It feels like there is a vice grip on top of my head that keeps getting tighter.  I have an appt with a migraine specialist in Jan.  I don't know how I will make it that long.

Denise,

The lenght of time to get out of an MOH cycle can vary. It depends on your body, how much percocet you've been taking, and any other medications you're taking. Since Percocet containes acetaminophen, even taking plain acetaminophen will keep you in MOH.You can read more about MOH in Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires.

Have you checked with your doctor to see if there's a neck or shoulder issue that's contributing to this?
