Hello, Pb,
You've asked the million-dollar question, but there's no simple answer. Only trying this birth control pill will tell if it will help with your Migraines. It could go one of three ways... 1) it could help; 2) it could make your Migraines worse; or 3) it could make no difference at all.
You said you don't want to take any more drugs gor Migraines. I know the feeling and wish that were a viable choice, but for some of us, it simply isn't. About the Topamax -- please don't just stop taking it, whatever you do. It must be tapered down slowly, under a doctor's supvervision.
Please don't lose hope or give up. Topamax was a disaster for me, but other medications have greatly reduced both the frequency and severity of my Migraines. There are now over 100 medications and supplements that can be used for Migraine and headache prevention. The frustration of trying to find what works for us can make it seem as if we've tried it all, but with so many possible preventives, it's literally impossible to have tried them all. See Migraine preventive medications - too many options to give up! for more information.
Please let me know how your specialist appointment goes next month?
Teri
