Hello,

An MRI of the head is a type of "brain scan." An MRI can be used to look for a tumor or aneurysm, evidence of stroke, evidence of injury to the brain. When used with special contrast dye, an MRI can also be used to examine the blood vessels of the brain.

When an MRI is ordered for someone with Migraines or headaches, it's usually to rule out such things as causes or triggers of the headaches or Migraines.
