Wednesday, November 11, 2009 Adam asks

Q: I am a 52 year old male with severe migraine.

I used to get migranes in he past, but for years been free of them till the last 3 weeks. In the last 3 weeks, I've had really nasty episodes worse than ever before, even prscription medicine didn't help. No change in diet, living environment, work, or lifestyle. The only change is that I've had roosters/hens in my backyard for about 4 weeks now. Could rooster/hens cause this or maybe their feed?

Please HELP!!!!

Thank you.

Adam,

Yes, it is possible that something about the hens and roosters or their feed is a Migraine trigger for you.

That said, since you haven't had Migraines for years, it would really be best to see your doctor to be sure that nothing else is going on.

Please let us know how it goes fof you?

Welcome again,

Teri

I got the result to my MRI, its negative, nothing wrong is found!! My episodes are reducing but still there. Thanks for your help. I'm just not looking forward to next year where this cycle will start all over again.

Hi Adam. This may sound silly, but are the roosters waking you up earlier than usual? If so, perhaps the sleep disturbance is causing your migraines. Good luck, Elizabeth

Thank you Elizabeth for your answer. I don't even here them in my sleep, I sleep with an air purifier running with noise reduction. I did though notice that everytime I get a migraine, my blood pressure goes up (really high) !! I thought that high blood pressure causes migraine, but in my case my pressure is usually GREAT except when a migraine hits.

Hi Adam,

I just  saw your question, and I apologize for not answering you sooner. If this Migraine pain is new, more intense or different then the pain you've had before, please contact your doctor at once. I'm not trying to scare you, but  we always need to err on the side of caution when things change in our medical condition, especially when your blood pressure goes up.  Please call the doctor today, tell him about your head pain AND higher than normal blood pressure.

Then come back and let us know, ok?

Good luck

Nancy

Will keep you posted.
