Q: My nine year old daughter takes Catapres for tics. She's been taking them for going on 3 years now. . .

In the past 6 months or so she's started getting what she calls Bleeping headaches.

In the front right part of her head where the original scans shows the bloodvessel clusters that the Nuerologist said were seen with children with Tourettes.  But clearly these headaches aren't a good sign right? We are, hopefully temporarily living in germany, so getting ahold of my nuerologist isn't an easy task.  Is this bleeping headache thing she has something to be concerned about? It is normal? Is it not supposed to be normal? Help please!   Thank you

Plus last night she fell down. which is what started all this panicking on my part. She was sliding on the hardwood floor in socks, and did what I expected she would. She slipped and landed on her back and slid. She never hit her head, and she's not done that broken butt bone thing kids do when they seriously hurt their tailbone. But within minutes after the jarring impact she had what she called and excruciating headache in the back of her head. To the point where she just wanted to lay down and close her eyes. She ate a little bit of dinner. At no time was she feeling like throwing up, and her pupils looked fine. So i finally let her just go to sleep. She took her Catapres and went to bed, but then at 5am she woke up crying calling for me because she was having one of her bleeping headaches in the front of her head and i could feel the heat. I could feel where the headache was in her head because it was so hot in that spot. But she told me it was oen of her normal headaches she gets all the time. I don't know what to do. she's only 9.

Hi jennifer,

It wouldn't be a bad idea to take her to the doctor, especially after her fall. If she's never had "bleeping" headaches before, that needs to be checked out to. Being Germany must make things difficult, but your daughter might do well to see a doctor who specializes in headaches. I don't have personal experience with this site, but did find some interesting things on it: Germany's First Migraine Clinic  along the top there is a tab for links, click on that and that may be helpful for doctor looking.

Good luck

Nancy
