Q: I had a servere migraine the other day at least I think it was a migraine. I'm scared...........

I was trying to nap when I was woken up by this horrible severe pain. It was from my forehead to the back of my head & on both sides. I could not lift my head, because of the pain so I just held it in my hands til I got to the kitchen where I took 2 aparin. The pain went away about 30 minuts later. The pain was on the top of my head. I went to the ER and received a brain scan which Thank God came back Neg. Since then I have had 3 headaches that go away with  excederine, but I am still worried, because I just got this sharp pain on the right side of my head (my migraine side). Scared and don't know what to do. No one here at home gets migraines so they think of my pain as just a regular headache & when I try to explain, they still don't get it.

If you haven't already, you should ask your family doctor to refer you to a neurologist to determine the nature of your headaches.  It can be difficult to do, but it is an absolute necessity to educate family/friends/employers about the effects migraines can have.  Even some doctors have a prejudice against migraines, so shop around for one that is well informed and understanding.
