Q: What happens if I consume alcohol while taking Imitrex?
Hi tim,
Sumatriptan, or imitrex may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Why would you?

Not to sound rude, because I know that this is an honest question, and by all means I don't mean to be, but if you are to the point in a headache to use Imitrex, you probably shouldn't even be thinking about or considering alcohol at all (at least from my experience). During a strong migraine, keep away from alcohol as it will probably only make things worse for you, as well as increasing the side effects of the imitrex, which are already not so great to begin with. Alcohol is no one's friend during a migraine, cluster, or any other type of headache so its best just to stay away until its gone.
