Hi MaryEllen,
We have a few good links that may be very helpful for you. I will list them here for you: Need to Apply for Disability? Help Your Doctor Help You
Disability Benefits - SSI and SSDI
It seems that most people get turned down during the first time application process, but don't let that stop you. As long as you have your doctors backing, good medical records and I think it is useful to have a lawyer from the beginning it makes things to a bit more smoother. You can read more about my SSDI story here: My Social Security Disability Journey
I hope this helps
Nancy
MaryEllen,
Sorry to hear that your migraines are so bad! We all feel your pain. I am just going to direct you to one of our experts previous answers. She has experience in this and can help you more with this. I know about FMLA and trying to fight for our rights with ADAA accommodations just to keep a job but haven't gotten to the point of disability yet. (although I might be there and my mind won't let me admit to it yet!!)
Here is who you should look at: both Nancy Bonk and Megan Oltman . Nancy has actually been successful with qualifying for disability this past July and Megan is an attorney so she can help with that aspect. Good luck with everything and I hope things work out for you.
Lisa
