Yes, lithium is used as a Migraine preventive medication. In fact, I was actually prescribed lithium quite a few years ago as such. Unfortunately for me, the side effects were not tolerable. Now, having said that, and knowing what I know now, I think a longer trial period would have been a better option than stopping it at the two week mark - but then again the side effects were not very pleasant. * But that doesn't mean they happen to everyone!!
The thing is when we start new medications, it can take up to three long months for our body to adjust to the drug, and then start seeing any reductions in our Migraine frequency or severity. In addition, any potential side effects may lessen over this period.
