Is it normal to suffer flu-like pain in your muscles after taking Imitrex?

Hi -  I have suffered with migraine disease since I was 8 yrs old.  I'm now 60 yrs. old.  I have been taking Imitrex since 1993.  I started with the injections, and now I take the 100 mg. tablets.  The Imitrex worked great on the migraine pain.  Within 1 hr. the pain is usually gone.  However, it is replaced by flu-like aches and pains all over my body.

Is this a normal side effect of Imitrex?  This has only happened within the last 2 or 3 yrs. Before that, I would take the Imitex and within the hour, I would have no pain.

I would appreciate your reply.

Thank you,

Louise

Hi Louise!

I have noticed some of the triptans have this side effect. I have the same issues with Frova.

Have you tried any of the other triptans to see if maybe one of the others work for you and does not give you this side effect?

Good luck!
