Q: 2yrs ago I had bellspalsy now I get terrible pains in my jaw and neck what can be done?

After lots of phyciscal therapy for my bellspalsy I am still not back to normal.  My right eye is weak and the right side of my mouth simply won't smile.  The pain I get in my jaw is unbearable and the headaches are coming more frequently.   I am 43 and pretty active hiking, horseback riding etc.. is there anything else that can be done?  The doctors I have seen have a wait and see attitude but 2yrs I think is quite long enough?? Please point me in the right direction.

Sincerly

Hi Helene!

Is it headachs you are experiencing or Migraines?

If you are unsure, the first thing I would suggest is getting a diagnosis on the headache/Migraine disorder by seeing a neurologist.

Also, check into your medications (if you are taking any) maybe something you started when the bellspalsy struck, that could have headaches as a side effect.

Other then that, maybe massage, acupuncture?

I would go to a neurologist, or even just a different doctor and see if they can help you.

Good Luck!
