is there a generic for Imitrex
Imitrex works extremely well for me but the cost is overwhelming. Is there a less expensive drug that acts in the same manner as Imitrex available?

There is a generic sumatriptan that will be tentatively become available sometime in 2009.
Do you have pharmacy coverage? If not, check out http://www.pparx.org - it is a place to find discount perscription cards.
Also, you can always keep an eye out on the websites of the drugs you take. Sometimes they have coupons available. I just checked out the Imitrex site, I don't see one available right now, but check back.
Also, don't be afraid to ask your doctor for samples. Let him/her know your situation that cost is an issue for you and see if you could get a few samples.
