Christina,

Alcohol should be avoided while taking topiramate. Alcohol may cause increased sedation or drowsiness. It may also increase the risk of having a seizure.

You can find more information about Topamax in our Topamax Information Section.

When I was on this meds for 9 months, I couldn't drink at all. Made my skin crawl--feel creepy, sensitive, everything tasted off, carbonated beverages all tasted like tin. Basically, all the joy of drinking a really good glass of wine was gone, so I didn't drink at all.. When I weaned off the Topomax, it wasn't working, everything started to taste better..

I just felt drinking a glass of wine, etc wasn't worth the sideeffects..  Good luck
