    Will Gabapentin 300 mg prevent chronic migraine pain?

    I just started taking Neurontin/Gabapentin to prevent chronic migraines. Is there anyone else out there doing the same? I seem to be doing all right with the side effects at my present low dosage, but I worry about what it will be like at the full dosage they want me to take. What have other people's experiences been on this med?

    I took this along with Topamax and Zoloft and klonopin. It helped, but the cost killed me after about 9 months.

    Good Evening Me;

          I have been taking neurontin 600mg for 6 years and it did work at first but now it does nothing for me , i have had migraines since i have been 12 years old , have had them for a lot of years there are some knew medications out there, I had moved away to a new state 4 years ago and my Dr has also moved on back in the state where i use to live now i have to find a new Dr but that is not always that easy.

         I have not side affects at all, i guess all i can say is it lets me sleep for a few hours, and if they get so bad as a pounder i will drive to the ER for a shot of toradol which seems to help , but than again if i don't let it go for so long

    i hope this helps you

      I have been taken Gabapentin/neurontin for less than a year, 300mg, then 600, now 900, and it works very well, practically no migraines at all since the 900mg.  My migraines had gotten to the point of nearly 24/7 and I could barely function.  Fighting sleepiness is nothing to dealing with the constant pain and nausea.  I've had migraines all my adult life and am wondering why someone didn't come up with this years ago.
