Q: How long before Topamax gets out of your system so Maxalt can be taken

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. Topamax and Maxalt are quite frequently taken at the same time with the Topamax being taken daily for Migraine prevention and Maxalt taken to abort a Migraine when it occurs.


But, to answer the question about how long Topamax is in your system - the half-life of Topamax is 21 hours, so 97% of it would be out of your body after 105 hours.

I took Maxalt while on Topamax.  The Topamax was prescribed to me as a preventative while the Maxalt is used as an abortive medication.  I had to quit taking the Topamax because it wasn't super effective and the side effects were really bad.  The Maxalt still works great for me as an abortive.
