What is the best treatment for herniated discs that cause daily headaches?
Hi Jen!
Have you been treated by a doctor for the herniated discs? They may be able to recommend treatment for that specifically, such as physical therapy.
As far as the daily headaches, are you sure that the cause is the herniated discs? If so, then getting the best possible treatment for this is crucial. Are you taking medications to get rid of the back pain/headache pain daily? Taking medication to stop a headache in access, may actually cause one! The term is called Medication Overuse Headache, aka Rebound Headaches. For more information on this, see: Medication Overuse Headache: When Remedy Backfires.
It may also be beneficial to seek out a neurologist, or a Migraine and headache specialist. See Migraine and Headache Specialists, What's So Special? We also have a link to specialists here: Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
If you do end up with one doctor treating you for the herniated discs and another for the headaches, do request that they consult with each other.
Good Luck!
