Wednesday, November 16, 2011 Renee asks

Q: My Daughter is 5 years old. She started having head aches in Sept.

Went in for an MRA and MRI.  The test came back that it was sinus blockage.

However, since the day of the MRI?MRA she hasn't been able to walk properly. She will be walking and then just drop to the floor and be unable to walk for up to 20 min. The doctor found that her perneal was somehow damaged and not working. He put in in physical therapy but it is now November and she is still loosing funtion in her legs. In addition, she had the same thing happen a few days ago except this time she couldn't walk or sit up. During this time her muscles are always strong. She can kick her arms and legs etc. she just can not walk or sit up on her own. No one seems to know whats going on I keep being told it will just take time. Do you know what this is????

I'm sorry your daughter is having such a horrid time. Unfortunately, this question is far beyond what can be answered online. Remember that there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

Let us know how things go?

Welcome again,
Teri

I would contact the nearest Children's hospital for a Neurologist referral.  Even 2 or 3.  If money is an issue contact Ronald McDonald and St. Jude, there are many other groups as well, but finding out the problem is your first priority.

When my migraines first hit (it took months to discover the possible trigger) my regular doctor tried in vain to help, but after 6 WEEKS with a headache, and facing a 2 month waiting list to see specialist, Hospitalization was my only option to get proper timely treatment.

Don't wait.  Let us know how it goes.  We will be praying for you guys.
