Q: TENS for tension headaches?

OK. I know TENS can't be used on the head or face, but what about the neck and shoulders? I'm wondering if that would help with tension headaches. Anyone know?

Hi Barb,

I use my TENS unit when I feel my neck and shoulders becoming excessively tense in hopes to ward off a Migraine. A TENS unit needs to be prescribed by your doctor. He then can explain where you are to place the pads.

One of the most important things is to get an accurate diagnosis. For purposes of treatment, learning about your Migraines, being able to get care if you're away from home, etc., you need a full diagnosis of what type of Migraine you have. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

Good luck

Nancy
