This gives me migrain type pain. is any on else dealing with this type .
I have a 3 level fusion 4-5,5-6-6-7Med do not work well. Only if they are strong enough to break through. ER has refused to treat, and even had a nurse laugh.

Have you tried any type of preventive medications? They not only reduce the frequency of Migraines and headaches, but the severity as well.

Hi Larry,
I have been fused at C3-4, C4-5, C 5-6, C6-7. Also have had Chiari decompressin surgery which includes a laminectomy at C1. I frequently have pain at base of skull.
A recent severe episode responded to 2- 6 day Medrol packs, totalling 12 days. I was free of pain for about 10 days. Now it's back. My history is so complex I don't even bother with ER's. Either ask for a prescription that you can use prn for pain or request a Pain Management referral. I take a combination of meds and when the pain breaks through, it's miserable. I am also working on trying to find the best combination of meds for me to prevent this pain. Muscle relaxers, Neuropathic meds, Anti inflammatories, and finally opiates are all part of my regime. Also, because it is migraine type pain, I am trying preventives. My next step is a Neurologist. Good luck.
