Q: head pressure with sore head hair loss normal ct scan hurts worse to lie down ideas please.

I have head pressure and I have been taking topamax 25 mg but will not go up because my hair is falling out. I have had a good ct scan and am now scheduled with tmj dentist. The pain is worse when I lay down and I feel dizzy my left arm tingles. I want to stop topamax because I will not go up and this has stopped working. The pain feels like spasms in my head has anyone taken muscle relaxers for this. All my thyroid, hormone test, iron normal. Do I need to see nero?

maxi,

First, I'm sorry this wasn't answered before. I'd have sworn I'd written to you. Sorry.

What you're describing could be from many things. It could be Migraines, an issue with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, or something else entirely.

What diagnosis did the doctor who prescribed Topamax give you? I can't give you medical advice, but I  can tell you that I wouldn't start medications without a diagnosis. If you can't go up on Topamax, talk to your doctor about discontinuing it. That low a dosage seldom helps, and your hair should grow back after you've been off it for a while.

Yes, do make an appointment wit a neurologist, please. If a neuro doesn't get to the bottom of it, keep in mind that neurologists aren't necessarily headache and Migraine specialists, and you might need to see one. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Please stop by and let us know what happens?

Good luck,

Teri
