Hi merr666,

Yes, Verapamil is often used for Migraine prevention. Remember it may take up to three months before we see a reduction in the severity and frequency of our Migraines.

I hope this helps,

Nancy

Hi, merr,

I have! I have!!

Seriously, I've been taking verapamil ER for eight or nine years now, and it's been fantastic for me! I hope it helps you too.

Please let us know how it goes?

Teri

Hey Teri... I've been taking Verapamil 240 ER for about 2 months, now.  I don't see a huge difference yet, but I also just got off of Topamax so I'll have to wait and see how it all shakes down.  My Endo also just took me off of Cytomel (I was on Levoxyl AND Cytomel), so that's yet ANOTHER med change.   I can already feel how I'm MORE tired.  You see... I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism many years ago, and have been treated with medication accordingly.  But lately, they say my blood tests indicate that I am HYPOthyroid, so they have been decrasing my meds.  I have absoloutely NO hyperthyroid symptoms whatsover.  Instead, my hypothyroid symptoms just get worse.  They insist that my bloodwork says it all.  They aren't really taking how I feel into consideration.  Oh well.  What's a girl to do?

It seems as though the combination of Topamax and Neurontin were just too much for me to handle.  I'm getting ready to go back to work after 2 years, and I need to be able to use my brain.  LOL... my memory was severely affected.  I still have a few issues with remembering words, but I can tell a big difference already.  I am SO hopeful that this drug will work for me, in addition to the Neurontin.  Wink

Hi, Sandi!

I hope it works for you too! You're right on with realizing that your thyroid issues and other things can mean that it will take a while to really evaluate how the verapamil is doing for you. It really tests our patience, doesn't it?

Good luck going back to work. Hope things go smoothly for you.

Yes, Merr

I have been on Verapamil ER 240mg for 3 years now.  I was loosing the vision in my right eye only about 2 times a week.  I went to a specialist at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.  He called it a certain type of Ocular Migraine.  Since I have been taking the Verapamil, I have not lost the vision in the right eye at all.  His name is Dr. James J. Corbett...is one of the best around...hope this helps.
