Q: severe headaches

I am in desperate help.  I am a mom of three and started experiencing severe headaches for a month now , whithout a break.  They're on right side and radiate up and down to mid neck region. all my blood work and scans of brain are normal.  I have received steroid injections two days ago by a great ent doc who believes this may be whip lash from a recent accident I was involved with . The problem is the injections don't seem to be working and I also lost a lot of weight, can barely eat and experience vomiting, especially in the morning.  Can anyone suggest what this may be or what type of doc. to see.  i am clueless and in pain.

Hi mart 1975,

One of the most important things is to get an accurate diagnosis. To simplify matters and make it easier for people to get information and treatment, doctors usually go by the gold standard for diagnosis, the International Headache Society's International Classification of Headache Disorders, 2nd Edition (ICHD-II). See the thing is if your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

We can't tell you what type of Migraine or headache you have, only a medical professional can, however, we can give you some information which you can read more this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

Good luck

Nancy
