Q: Why my boyfriend is getting migrane headaches 2 or 3 times a day?

My boyfriend has been getting terrible migrane headaches for the past couple of weeks and now they are starting to get more frequent. He started getting these headaches around the age of 18 and lasted up until he was 26. He now is 29 and he's getting them again. He's been to numerous doctors and they can't figure out the problem. These migranes are so bad he can't speak, talk and he has to sit in a dark and cold room to help ease his pain. I need help I'm really worried about him and I can't find a specialist because right now we have no insurance. Please help me.

Jenny,

I'm SO very sorry you and your boyfriend are in this situation. I truly wish there were something I could suggest to you, but the only thing that I can safely suggest is a specialist. With your description of these Migraines occurring tow or three times a day, we can't even be sure that they are Migraines, and with that kind of increase in frequency, most doctors would recommend an imaging study - CT or MRI - to be sure there's nothing else going on.

So the only thing I can suggest is seeing if you can cut spending somewhere to allow you to save money for him to go to a specialist. We've been there too. We had insurance, but it didn't cover a lot of my specialist care, let alone hotel and travel expenses with needing to go to one eight hours away.

Wish I could be of more help.

Welcome again,

Teri
