What other blood pressure type medications are used for prevention of Migraines?

I suffered approximately 4-5 years with progressively worsening headaches,

finally last year I was ordered a MRI, I had mutiple areas of plagues and areas of ischemia.

I was referred to a Neurologist.

I was first started on Topamax, which offered some relief of Migraines, but I had mutiple adverse reactions and side effects.  Next I was ordered Inderal LA 60 mg, this offered better preventive measures, and I might only suffered with 1 Migraine a week that was significant,  but I lost my ambition, and my usual 2-3mile daily walk turned into a struggle and I gradually gained about 20 lbs, they changed me to another beta blocker Corgard 40 mg daily and although I only gained another 2 lbs more over the next 2 months, I still had no exercise tolerance or ambition.  About 3-4 weeks ago they started me on a Vitamin regime:

CQ10, B-2 and MagOx, within 4-5 days of stopping Corgard my headaches started to worsen,  I was requring Axert 3-4 x week, just so I could function and work without pain, nausea and vomiting.  Just 6 days ago the Doctor added to my vitamin regime Zoloft 50 mg and to increase to 100 mg this coming Friday.

Since starting Zoloft I have had 3 significant Migraines, and have taken Axert 3 x this week so far.   I cannot let my headaches get above 4-5 on pain scale,  I cannot go back to suffering like I did prior to preventive treatment attempts.  I do not feel comfortable using Axert so often, and read often about rebound headaches.

This disease has pushed me into a dark room, I only perform my necessay work and family obligations, I otherwise hide in my home.  THis is a crippling disease.

My question is,  are there any other type blood pressure meds or any med that might work with minimal side effects,  if I must, I will go back on a beta blocker, but I truly hope there is something more for me.

Also I am careful about food triggers, and all the suggestions , and very much thank all the websites that have offered helpful information and hope.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.  Thank you, Kathleen Wilson, 49 y/o

Well, you sound like you have been around the block.  I take inderal, diazpam, and lexapro..they help some..and then the pain meds.  They recently put my on Neuorontin.  It seems to be helping some..but to no avail I still have my migraines.  Do you smoke? For me just going around my mother and the smoke in the air, sets me on a 3 day pain adventure.  Have you tried the hormones?
