Q: Have you heard of taking Skelaktin as a preventive?

My neurologist just started me on Skelaktin as a preventive med. I guess the thought is that it will help reduce my daily headaches, theresfore cutting down on my migraines. I have tried sooooo many others and still haven't found relief, but I can't find any information on using a muscle relaxer (and it is super expensive).

Boxer,

It's not unusual for muscle relaxants to be prescribed as a preventive, especially for prevention of tension-type headaches.

When you try a preventive, how long do you try it? It can take up to three months to really know if a medication is going to work for you.

Good luck,

Teri

I have taken Skelaxin preventively. I now take it as needed. It should not be that exspensive, it's one of the cheaper muscle relaxers.....I pay less for that then my normal co pay would be.

Do you have perscription drug coverage? If not, check out Partenership for Perscription Assistance.
