Q: Best method for getting doctor to stand still and answer questions?

Teri, my doctor is good and not too bad about answering questions, but he moves so fast that if I'm not careful, he's out of the room before I get a chance to ask my questions.  Do you have any advice for the best method for getting a doctor to stand still long enough to answer questions?

Thanks!
Mags

Hi, Mags,

I love the way you phrased your question. It points out that this can be a problem even witth good and well intentioned doctors.. You know they're busy, and they're going to be out that door, so you really feel like putting your chair between them and the door. Cool

What I've found to work well is to type up a list of questions to take with me, leaving space between the questions to take notes. If you print two copies, and give a copy to your doctor, he has your list of questions, and hopefully won't escape before addressing all of them.

Hope this helps!

I find it helpful to tell the Dr. that you have a list of quesions at the begining of the appointment.   If at all possiable E-mail your Dr. the day before your appointment with your questions that way they have time to research answers if need be. Also as Teri says Make a list, it is really helpful.   I know I have left the docters office and gotten to my car and then remembered a question I forget to ask. Arrg.
